Oh hey Canada!:) I would just like to brag for a moment-not only because we are in Europe but because Europe has no Mosquitos!! Heheh see I'm still funny from across the pond. Anyways! No sightings of the queen recently- I'm sure she is busy and can't see her two favorite Canadians, but we have been sight seeing as of late. Two days ago we went to Kensington palace- which was not what we expected but still gorgeous. It was almost like a weird haunted house/murder mystery? Vivienne Westwood designed it if that helps you picture what it was like, but this was a twist on the usual palace. After that we went for a walk through Hyde park, saw the princess dianna memorial fountain and had some tea at a cafe in the park. We then went to apsley house, which was the duke of wellington's residence for basically ever. Very very interesting. Learned a lot, he was kind of a big deal. Well wellington boots i'm sure were named after him so.. But he won a lot of battles mainly against napoleon. So Brits are a fan of him for sure. He also had a huge collection of dining plates and art which was nice, we had an audio guide, listened to everything and probably took two hours just learning!
We then went up onto the Wellington arch, which had an amazing view of constitution hill (the road to buckingham palace that wills and kate drove down for their wedding- well the opposite end of it either way a goreous drive/walk lined with trees. Then we went for our usual walk down past buckingham palace, and visited the queen's gallery and the royal news which were kind of disappointing because they didn't have the carriage that wills and Kate drove in, or the car Kate drove to the wedding. And it only had 5 horses on display. Crazy queen. But god bless her. And here comes the rant. Platform 9 3/4 hmmm let's see the movie made gow many billions, we show up expecting magic and the display is outside. A plastic brick wall and a shopping cart. Ummmmmm good work? Kings gate is such a beautiful train station and you can see where the movie was probably filmed and they had to put up a plastic version of it outside? Not impressed London. And anywho this was in northern soho, super sketchy so we ran back to our rich district of kensington. We saw a glimps of the gross side of London and didn't like it. Yes mom I can picture you just shaking your head at this but oh well. I like being sheltered and surrounded by pretty things. One day I too will realize how dumb I sound here but oh well. Yesterday we went to Jew gardens, honestly it would have been £14 if we didn't have our London passes and you can see better gardens in Hyde park for free. And I got a sunburn so that didn't add to my happiness. But today we went to the tower of London and it was just eerie. The history of that place was weird. We went to the exact spot Anne Boleyn was executed. Watching the tutors then going to the tower just made it so much better- I cannot wait for Hampton court. There was a lot of armory/defense stuff in the tower which just made me think of how much Kris is going to love it. It was honestly a great experience, it brought to life the history of the castle. And then we went for a walk and ran into downing street-so so heavily guarded I thought they were protecting the offspring of Jesus or something. But cool-the government buildings made me want to wok in London-so pretty. And we tried to hit up Clarence house but yet again baby Jesus was being protected. So no prince sightings yet- there is still hope though!! Will update soon- bye bye for now.
